Muse Gadget · explained
How Muse Gadget works
A 4G module with its own SIM, GNSS, a camera and Bluetooth LE. It gives a vehicle its own connection, and gives Muse the eyes, ears and memory to look after it. Module 1, firmware 0.1.112, in life test.

The path from the vehicle to the answer
1. The module holds its own uplink
A 4G LTE modem with its own SIM, powered from the vehicle, on even when the car is parked. Data-only: no voice calls, including WhatsApp calls, and no VoLTE. Because the SIM belongs to the module and not to a phone, the link survives the phone being switched off or left behind.
2. It knows where it is
GNSS gives a live satellite fix outdoors, with a cell-tower estimate as fallback indoors. Position is logged to local storage roughly once a minute, which is where the ~88 days of history comes from. “Where is my vehicle?” and “where did it go yesterday?” are answered from that log.
3. It can look
A camera inside the vehicle takes a still photo on demand, delivered over 4G. That is the whole camera capability today: there is no video recording and no motion-triggered clip, both of which are roadmap items and are labelled as such everywhere on this site.
4. It listens to the vehicle’s own hardware
Bluetooth LE lets the module pick up what the vehicle already broadcasts: tyre-pressure sensors and an OBD2 diagnostic dongle. Nothing is spliced into the wiring. On the test vehicle it hears all four tyre sensors, connects to a standard ELM327 dongle and reads the VIN.
5. Muse turns it into an answer
The module runs on Meta’s Muse gadget platform and SDK. Muse reads the position log, the trip data and the photo, and answers in words. You ask a question in Muse on your phone; Muse reaches the module over its own 4G link. That is why the phone is the interface, not the connection.
The same three labels, applied here
Every capability on this site carries one of three labels. Nothing moves up a column without being tested.
What Muse Gadget is not
Not a phone
No voice-call capability at all, not even WhatsApp calls. The 4G link is data-only: no voice, no VoLTE.
Not a music player
Spotify is remote control only. Muse controls playback on a paired phone; the phone streams the music.
Not an infotainment replacement
It sits alongside the existing head unit. No new screen, no rewiring, no dealer visit.
Not a dashcam
Still photos on request. No continuous or triggered recording — that is roadmap.
Not a retail product
Pilot deployments only. No price, no checkout, no bill of materials published anywhere on this site.
Not a Meta product
Skytech designs and makes it. It runs on Meta’s Muse platform and SDK.
Who builds it, where, and what you can order
Muse Gadget is designed and built by Skytech Creations Limited, a Hong Kong OEM/ODM electronics group founded in 2003, Apple MFi-licensed since 2011. It is designed in Hong Kong, supported by the Shenzhen supply chain, and manufactured and tested in Thailand at the Amata City campus in Chon Buri, opened 2023.
What you can order: nothing at retail. Pilot deployments are single-digit runs, discussed case by case with the engineer who built the unit.
For the aftermarket audio channel: a white-label model is described on the Car Audio Edition page — Skytech brings firmware, platform and manufacturing; the channel partner brings the customer relationship.
